Breaking Silos: Advancing Interdisciplinary Healthcare Simulations

While gaining momentum and popularity in higher education across many allied health disciplines, simulations can be challenging to create and implement, often leading programs to feel “trapped in a silo”. This presentation will discuss how Viterbo University enhanced interdisciplinary education opportunities through the use of simulation, highlighting the importance of collaboration, student and faculty buy-in, as well as campus and community support.

Learning Objectives

  1. Attendees of this session will be able to list key stakeholders both within and between various college departments that can help support clinical simulation.
  2. Attendees of this session will be able to describe strategies to enhance student and faculty buy-in for simulations to be successful and impactful.
  3. Attendees of this session will be able to formulate a minimum of one current barrier and one potential facilitator to overcome that barrier in order to enhance interdisciplinary simulation in their program.
